The Sichuan Low-dimensional Composites Engineering Technology Research Center (shorted as low-dimensional center), approved by the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province, was founded in September 2009. Relying on the sources of Southwest Jiaotong University, the low-dimensional center is mainly engaged in the researches on engineering technologies and related applied products of nano-materials and whiskers with multi-function, high-performance and structural-functional integration. In recent years, the center has undertaken more than 70 projects, 40 of which are the national-level projects and 30 provincial-level ones. The center has set up a series of laboratories with approximately 800 m2 for technological researches, 1200 m2 for pilot productions, which can meet the requirements for preparation, modification and application investigations on low-dimensional products and their composites. Till now, the low-dimensional center has set up three united labs in cooperation with related companies and a series of experimental platforms for engineering and technological investigations on antibacterial and environmental cleaning, stealth and electromagnetic shielding, vibrational and noise-reducing composites materials as well as characterization analysis of low-dimensional materials. Most of these labs have been opened to enterprises and related industries in the province with technology consultation and service.
