The Research Center of Transportation Strategy and Regional Development in Western China was established in 2011 by the approval of Sichuan Federation of Social Sciences Circle.
The Research direction of this center includes studying and constructing the academic research framework system of transportation and regional development, inland waterway transportation, air transport hub, airport economy and key problems of regional economy and society in Sichuan, such as the construction of traffic hinge in Western China, interaction and making overall plans of industrialization and urbanization, a new type of urbanization and multipoint and multipolar supportive strategy and so on. The center has accomplished dozens of planning programs on transportation strategy and regional development in Western China entrusted by governments at all levels, which turns it into a characteristics-distinctive and superiority-prominent key research base of philosophy and social science in Sichuan, service base of decision-making consulting and personnel training base, and which also enhances its brain-supportive functions as think tank in terms of comprehensive transportation developing strategy, regional development planning, industrial layout and so on.
