The Key Laboratory of Advanced Technologies of Materials (KLATM), Ministry of Education, was approved for construction in 2003, officially established in 2007 and completed the performance evaluation in 2012.
The KLATM is positioned in line with the national strategic demand for advanced materials and frontier areas of materials science. The KLATM has set up four distinct research fields including biomedical materials and medical implants, superconducting and new energy materials, functional polymers and composites, and biotribology. The KLATM has become an innovative research base for high-level basic and applied sciences and key technologies. The KLATM has an excellent research team with multidisciplinary educational background and most of the members are the returned overseas scholars. The KLATM is equipped with the advanced facilities for materials preparation, processing, testing and analysis with the total value exceeding 50 million yuan.
