The Key Laboratory of Magnetic Suspension Technology and Maglev Vehicle, Ministry of Education, was set up in 2006. It passed evaluation and acceptance by Ministry of Education in 2012. Relying on the competitive edge of the School of Electrical Engineering, SWJTU, the laboratory demonstrates superiority in various subjects, such as electrical, control, materials, mechanical Engineering and research findings in the field of magnetic suspension.
The laboratory focuses on the basic research for the application of magnetic suspension，converter and control techniques. The research on the magnetic suspension transportation system and wheel-track transmission system includes the following five aspects, super-conduction technology in high-speed magnetic suspension, preparation technology of superconducting magnetic material, maglev vehicle and levitation control, electricity and control technologies, and power supply system and converter techniques.
The main objective for the laboratory lies in the promotion of industrialization of maglev vehicle and development of modern converter technology, electric drive technology and control technology.
The laboratory is dedicated to constructing the national-level research base for the maglev train as well as the wheel-rail vehicle transmission and control.
