This lab keeps up with the global rail transit development trends, establishes the basic research platform for the modernization of rail transit equipment, concentrates on the development of modern rail transit like railways, urban rail transit, maglev transportation, and performs fundamental, prospective, strategic and innovative researches. Due to its remarkable technological creativity, the lab acts as a leader in the field of traction power throughout Asia and has independently developed a series of equipment, like the Rolling and Vibration Test Rig for Complete Locomotive and Rolling Stock, the most advanced one of its kind in the world, and the pantograph-catenary hybrid simulation test rig.
