Recently, the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) and the fourth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) successfully concluded in Beijing.During the NPC and CPPCC sessions, teachers and alumni representatives of SWJTU performed their solemn mission, giving full play to their professional vision , grasping the pulse of the Times, and actively offering suggestions on the focal issues of the country's economic and social development, and contributed their insights.

Professor Luo Xia: Combination of Rural Highway and Road Development Economy

   Luo Xia, a deputy to the National People's Congress, CPPCC vice chairman of Chengdu, Sichuan province, a professor from school of transportation and logistics, Southwest Jiaotong University, thinks that, in the meantime of improving the road network, rural highways should develop in coordination with expressway resources, industries, scenic spots and so on, so as to form "combination", further to promote the development and utilization of rural highway road resources, forge a higher level of dynamic balance in which demand pulls supply and supply creates demand, and create a development situation in which the highway revolves around industrial construction and the industry around highway development .

  Luo Xia found in her survey that the current rural road development pays more attention to the "displacement" role of the road itself; the promotion of the development and utilization of road resources and the development of integrated economy have not become a trend. Luo Xia suggested that guidelines should be formulated to promote the development of rural highway and highway economy, to clarify the complementary mode and supporting policies for the integrated development of rural roads and industries, and to pilot and promote the high-quality and efficient development of rural roads."
