The “2017 International Workshop on Advances in Information Coding and Wireless Communications (AICWC’2017)” was held on November 6, 2017 at Seminar Hall 148 in Xipu campus of Southwest Jiaotong University. AICWC’2017 was co-hosted by the IEEE/ComSoc/VTS ITS Chengdu Branch and CIE IT Association, co-sponsored by National 111 exchanging talents project, NSFC-NRF collaborative research project, NSFC-STINT cooperative research project, EU FP7 QUICK project, National International joint research center “Modern Transportation Communication and Sensing Network” and Southwest Jiaotong University, and organized by the Key Laboratory on Information Coding and Transmission of Sichuan Province, School of Information Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University. 18 world-renowned experts and scholars from around the world were invited as keynote speakers to discuss the state of the art research developments in the areas of Information Theory, Coding and Wireless Communications.
The opening ceremony of the workshop was held at 8:45 am on 6 November, and was chaired by Professor Fan Pingzhi, School of Information Science and Technology. Professor Xu Fei, President of Southwest Jiaotong University, Professor Ma Zheng, Vice Dean of School of Information Science and Technology, Professor Tor Hellesth from the University of Bergen, Norway and Professor Erdal Panayirci from Kadir Has University, Turkey, delivered speeches. President Xu Fei, on behalf of the University, warmly welcome distinguished scholars from all over the world to attend the workshop, and hoped that the scholars can take this workshop as an opportunity to deepen the communication and mutual cooperation, to promote the development of Information Coding and Wireless Communication.
The invited experts include Professor Tor Helleseth from University of Bergen, Norway who is a Fellow of Royal Society of Norway and IEEE Fellow, Professor Erik G. Larsson from Linköping University, Sweden, IEEE Fellow, Professor Wei Zhang, the Editor in Chief of IEEE WCL, from University of New South Wales, Australia, IEEE Fellow, Professor Cheng-Xiang Wang from Heriot-Watt University, UK, the EU Curie Scholar, Professor Zhiguo Ding from Lancaster University, UK, IEEE Fellow, Professor Xiaodong Wang from Columbia University, USA, Professor Yongliang Guan, the Editor of IEEE Tans VT, from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Professor Jingxian Wu, the Editor of IEEE Tans WC/TVT, from University of Arkansas, USA, Professor Lian Zhao from Ryerson University, Canada, Professor P Takis Mathiopoulos from University of Athens, Greece. The experts brought us a wonderful academic feast.
