International Seminar on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Open Talent Policies held in SWJTU

International Seminar on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Open Talent Policieswas held in SWJTU from 13th to 14th November. This academic gathering was jointly organized by Chinese Academy of Personnel Science, Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and SWJTU.

Discussions over innovation strategy and innovation policies, the analysis of the factors that hinder innovation and the corresponding solutions, experiences of forging a platform of innovation, and the implementation of a more open personnel policies to promote international cooperation had been delivered by Chinese and foreign experts and scholars.

He Xian, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, attended the seminar and gave a speech. He indicated that it is the implementation of the innovation-orientated development strategy that would path the way for China to make full use of the great opportunities in this age and maintain the sustainable development. A more open talent policies will be put forward in the upcoming years for the purpose of cultivating more innovative personnel.

“Nowadays, in terms of the national strength, it is the innovations that highlight the advantages, undertaking the responsibility that wins the respects and a host of talents that lead the future. This seminar will provide substantial suggestions on the policy-making conducive to the restructure of the development model of economy and sustainable social development,” said Wang Shunhong, CPC Secretary of SWJTU.

“SWJTU has succeeded in integrating the three major systems of disciplines, talents and scientific researches, propelling China’s modernization of rail transit and regional economical development. We will further promote the original innovation and integrated innovation to train high-qualified personnel with strong sense of innovation around the world.”

Philippe Rheault, the Consul General of the Consulate General of Canada in Chongqing, highly evaluated the active cooperation between Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and China. A great number of innovative companies in Canada have established win-win cooperation ties with the counterparts in China, particularly those small and medium-size enterprises having achieving sustainable development while inputting driving force for China’s huge market.

Stewart Beck, the President and CEO of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, gave a keynote speech and introduced Canada's innovation eco-system. He put top priority to the education and scientific research projects that could bring insights into innovation.

Canadian government provides funds for innovation through setting up research projects, accounting for nearly half of the total money for innovation. These funds substantially promote the development of the private sectors in Canada, ensuring the enterprises with unique technology and expertise can give full play of their great potentials.

The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, created by an Act of Parliament in 1984, is an independent, not-for-profit think-tank on Canada's relations with Asia. It functions as a knowledge broker, bringing together people and knowledge to provide current and comprehensive research, analysis and information on Canada's transpacific relations.
