At 2:30 p.m., March 12, a work conference, in accordance with the school policy of “school closed but work must not stop”, was staged by Office of Scientific Research and Development (the Sci R&D), blueprinting scientific researches for the upcoming Spring term, in an effort to minimize the Covid-19 fallout. The conference was conducted online plus onsite, with leaders gathering in 269 room, Xipu Campus, and staff members staying online at their own homes.
The conference was chaired by Prof. Zhou Zuowan, director of the Sci R&D. After a brief report on the measures concerning scientific research amid the Covid-19 outbreak by the university, Prof. Zhou went on to deploy the key work for the new term. Firstly, the application of natural Science foundation of China ( NSFC) should be prioritized.He called for school leaders’ promotional initiatives on NSFC application, for example, urging applicants’ utmost efforts for a quality project bidding. Second, get ourselves versed in the latest documents on scientific research management issued by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology, and beef up our efforts for a further improvement of SWJTU scientific research management policies; Third, we should go whole hog to provide best service for all teachers and students, especially amid the covid-19 outbreak, an unprecedentedly tough period.
In the second stage of the meeting, all other leaders have specified their major work to be done, measures to be taken, and goals to be reached as well , each underscoring their proposals' operability, inspectability, quantifiablility and measurablility .
Finally, Prof. Zhou Zuowan rounded up the conference by demanding that all staff members initiate an at-home work with, requiring them for prompt responses and timely communications , and joint efforts for an orderly and healthy research undertaking during virus battle.
